Desert Willow

To provide students with an educational foundation for life-long success

Principal's Message

 Parents and Family Members:

In the coming weeks we will be setting the after-school schedule for clubs, including choir, art, and chess. Please look for flyers that will be sent home in the coming weeks.
The office requests your help with an on-going problem; changes in go-home instructions after 1:30 pm. A good portion of our students are in Reteach and Enrich during the final period of the day. This instruction is critical. Furthermore, there is a good chance that the children are in different classrooms receiving instruction during that time. Trying to track down a child during that time is difficult and often requires interruption of critical learning. If you know that your child will be picked up early for an appointment, etc, please notify the office early in the day. Please do not call the school after 1:30 pm to make changes to go-home instructions. Thank you.
A very special thank you to Smith's Grocery. They held a drive to purchase supplies and school shirts for Desert Willow. In addition, Desert Willow has received donated school supplies from Mission Bank, River Cities United Way, The Gardens, Kingman Central Christian Church, Pioneer Title, and Sonic Drive-In on Andy Devine Avenue. We are very fortunate to have community support from these local merchants and organizations.
Also, a special thank you to Mrs. Julie Pennington of Bit of Heaven Salon. She donated her time and the materials to dye my hair purple. I can not begin to tell you how much enjoyment the students received from seeing me with purple hair!

Thank you for entrusting us with your child's education.

Bus Routes
Bus Routes can be found on the kusd.org home page. You will find a link to the homepage by going to the top of the Desert Willow home page and clicking on the "District & School Quick Links"
Secure Pick-Up Procedures
The last PE class ends at 2:05 pm. After the students are picked up, the tables are set down for secure pick up. The purpose of the tables is to control the proper release of students to adults. Without a barrier, children may run to an adult they recognize- defeating the purpose of secure pick up.
It is our goal to open the gym doors at 2:10 pm daily. Thank you.
Information on Breakfast and the 7:35 Bell
The gym doors open at 7:15 am or a little earlier depending on the bus arrivals. School begins at 7:35 AM. Therefore, the cut-off time for breakfast is 7:30. However, if a school bus is late, the breakfast time is extended. Parents, if you drop off your child for school and would like them to eat breakfast, please have them here before 7:30 AM.
Thank. you.
